I saw a picture of a roadster that looked like it was weathered to the bear metal. What the guy did was lay down BMF on the body. He then sparyed semi gloss black over that. Next he sanded with 2400 grit polishing cloth to expose the metal underneath. When fuelish teaches me how to post a pict I will get one in here. It looks pretty good in the picts.

Here ya go with the pics. I also cut a past the post that this build made on how he did it. Thanks for letting us know about this one. I like it!!! The body was BMF'd with 5 pieces (cowl, trunk, firewall and 2 sides) The hardest part was was getting the BMF around the complex curves at the back of the cab. Also, tears and wrinkles worked to my advantage, as it gave the paint a starting point to be sanded away. I painted it Testors lacquer semi gloss black and sanded it down with a 2400 grit cloth. Anything rougher would just cut into the paint, but a fine sandpaper feathers it out better. The BMF holds up well under sanding and takes on a raw steel effect. Interestingly, the resin body worked better than the smooth plastic track nose, with the inherent roughness of the resin. I had to re-do the nose, after roughing up the plastic a bit.
